9/7/16: Activating a Sacred World View to Fulfill our Collective Mission with Stephen Dinan On this call Stephen shared his vision for creating a more perfect union, E Pluribus Unum, for America and for the world as a whole. Together, we explored the growing experience of separation and polarization that inhibits communication, compassion and collaboration through the lens of politics. What could be possible if we build connections across divides Many spiritually oriented people don't even want to talk about politics, let alone get involved. And yet, what we need to bridge the divides and engage opposing sides at a higher level, is the integration of spirit and politics, left and right positions, visionary future possibilities and pragmatism to create change. We need "cultural healers" who can hold the vision and engage people in a higher level of conversation. The vision and pragmatic solutions that Stephen outlines in his book Sacred America, Sacred World align well with our work as a gathering community of purposeful change agents. Here are some of the steps Stephen talked about in the process of leaning into the unity of the larger whole in America and the world:
Stephen Dinan is the author of Sacred America, Sacred World. He is the founder and CEO of The Shift Network and a member of the Transformational Leadership Council and Evolutionary Leaders. The Shift Network is deeply committed to supporting the shift toward a planet that is healthy, sustainable, peaceful and prosperous for all and are striving to make an impact on multiple fronts. Stephen is a graduate of Stanford University (Human Biology) and the California Institute of Integral Studies (East-West Psychology). He helped create and directed the Esalen Institute’s Center for Theory & Research, a think tank for leading scholars, researchers, and teachers to explore human potential frontiers. As the former director of membership and marketing at the Institute of Noetic Sciences, he was the driving force behind the Shift in Action program and the One Minute Shift media series. Stephen shared the following resources for those who want to go deeper:
